Taking on a Project Car as a Hobby

Car restoration can be a fun, challenging hobby for auto enthusiasts. Part of the fun of taking up a project car is selecting which model you are going to help re-build. When you start looking for a car, make sure you know your budget limitations ahead of time. Make sure to factor in both the initial cost of the car (and possibly the kit) as well as maintenance costs over time.

Also, make sure you pick a car that you feel comfortable working with - ideally, the car should have a good deal of documentation and you should be able to find a mechanic to lend you some tips if needed. In fact, when you do find a car you'll want to make sure it's fully inspected so you can determine the condition. Tips for Buying a Project Car

Here are a few tips for buying a project car...you don't have to follow them if you don't want, but you may wanna have a look because although you are very knowledgable...you probably don't know everything.

Tip #1: Driving a car costs money so don't expect to make money or treat this as an investment, especially if this is your first project car.  If you've done this before you may make money if you are good...but don't count in it buddy.

Tip #2:  Plan for the restoration of your project car and estimate the amount of time it will take you....double this number and figure that this is how much time it will take you.

Tip #3: Decide before you buy it if you are going to drive and enjoy the car or try and flip it...know exactly your intentions before diving into any project car.

Tip #4: Do your research...read as much as you can on the car you have your eye on.

Tip #5: Don't forget about the simple things before you buy...remember you have to have a proper place to store your project car and this obviously isn't going to be reliable for everyday transportation.
